Writers Summit Teaches Authors How to Get Published - and How to Pay it Forward

An entrepreneurial spirit will light up the thousands of participants expected at the 2nd Annual Rocky Mountain Writer's Summit with dancers from Dance2Live providing entertainment at the breaks at this all day event on January 22 at the Lone Tree Country Club. The sponsor, Books to Believe In, asks everyone to bring a $5 donation for Habitat for Humanity because they know that the next J.K. Rowlings could walk through the door and, like Rowlings, authors often start out with very little and everyone needs a little help sometime. Help will be everywhere at the Writers Summit as budding writers connect with over 40 publishers, authors, editors and printers to learn who can help edit, print, publish or market their books. And, with over two dozen authors on site, this will be one of the largest book signing events of the year in Colorado. Among the eight book premiers will be, spiritual explorations entitled, The Voice Across the Veil and A Great Life Does Not Happen by Accident as well as a practical guide to a situation many of us face, The Guide to a Smart Divorce and five new Kindle-only released books.

Writer's Summit Tip #25:

Commercially publishing a book takes between 12-24 months AFTER you sign a contract with a publisher. If your subject is more timely than that, you need to seriously consider self-publishing or partner publishing your book.

Many non-fiction books are quite timely. Waiting for 2 years to get a book on the topic out on the market could significantly damage your chances for success. There are many ways to publish your work that gets your information to the market much more quickly.
